Stephen Hendry

Date Of Birth: January 13th 1969
Birth Palce: Edinburgh, Scotland
Turned to Pro: 1986
World Ranking: 10
Highest World Ranking: 1

STEPHEN Hendry is quite simply the greatest player that has ever lived. A look at his career record confirms that.

The Scot has the most career ranking wins, the most world title in the modern age, the most century breaks in tournament play, the most prize money, and of course, the youngest player ever to be crowned champion of the world.

There is no prize of any note that Stephen Hendry has not won – and that includes captaining his country to a World Cup title in 1996 along with fellow members of the ‘dream team’, future world champion John Higgins and Masters winner Alan McManus.

And in 2009 he again proved just what the big stage means to him when he rolled in a fantastic 147 maximum against Shaun Murphy at The Crucible to match Ronnie O’Sullivan record of nine career maximums.

Many were ready to write him off Hendry as a force in the game at the start of the 2003/04 campaign when his trusty cue was smashed while returning from Thailand. But Stephen responded as only he can by beating Ronnie O’Sullivan to take the British Open title just a few weeks later.

Stephen lives with wife Mandy and sons Blaine and Carter in Auchterarder, just a few miles away from Gleneagles where he can participate in one of his other great passions, golf. Stephen is also a keen poker player, making many tournament and TV appearances.
